Hey Guys,

We had a major thunder and lightning storm last night.
The tower that broadcasts my internet took several direct lightning hits, destroying all of the ISP's equipment.
They are a very small company and can't afford to replace $7000.00 worth of equipment.
That means I will be without internet until we get a new ISP and get hooked up.
Not sure how long this will take.
If you get desperate to talk to me, Freddie has my phone number.

It feel that its important that I report that there was also an incident ALREADY involving his cam and some controversial materials that displayed in the background, in the BBB. Thankfully I seem to be the only one who noticed this, very thankfully, i mean thanks a lot Good o have you back, and Osprey too!

Back in action!
I was sitting here tonight, watching a movie on the wife's computer, and all of a sudden, the internet came back up!
So it seems my little ISP has repaired the damage. The thing is, I have Frontier coming tomorrow to hook up DSL.
So now do I keep my previous service, or switch to DSL.
Pro's - Faster service for the same price (about 50% faster); my current system is a pain because the dish that receives it is on my landlords house. I know he uses it and, if there are issues with the unit and it needs to be reset, I have to call him.
Cons - My current ISP is super cool about being late on payments. SUPER COOL, as in, they will stop by my job and say "Hey, you are on the dead beat list. You are 4 months behind. I don't need it now, but, you need to get a little more caught up."
I like that they are so cool and, for the most part, the speed we are at, works. But the faster speed, plus the fact my landlord can't jack my connection, makes the DSL tempting.

Any thoughts?

Sorry, a little late to this thread, but I'll chime in anyway.

As awesome as it would be to have a more reliable connection. The flexibility of paying them when you can would sway my vote in favor of them if money is super tight. I guess it also depends if the current provider rapes you on the late fees.

No late fees are ever charged and I can be 6 months behind. lol
